About the Role & Environment

The Education Sector's core mission is to rally the world around the future of education. It provides global and regional leadership to ensure every child, youth, and adult has access to quality education throughout life, keeping two cross-cutting priorities in focus: Africa and Gender. UNESCO acts as a powerful catalyst for transformation, using the Education 2030 Framework for Action as a roadmap. Interns will be selected based on their specific specialization and placed within teams covering areas such as Global Citizenship Education, Education Financing, Curriculum Policy, and Skills Development.

Duties and Responsibilities

The work entrusted to interns falls under one or more of the following categories:

• Programme and Project Support: Participate in reviewing project documents, drafting concept notes, analyzing data, and assisting in the development of new interventions.
• Research and Knowledge Management: Undertake specific research, contribute to advocacy materials, draft publications, and participate actively in seminars.
• Partnerships: Analyze background data for potential fundraising events, arrange briefings, and build networks with officials in national administrations and researchers.
• Operations Support: Provide vital administrative and logistical support in organizing high-level meetings, events, and conferences, alongside budget and document preparation.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

• Age Requirement: You must be at least 20 years old to apply.
• Educational Status: You must meet one of the following criteria: (1) Enrolled in the 3rd or final year of a Bachelor's degree; (2) Enrolled in a Master's or PhD program; or (3) Graduated from a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program within the last 12 months.
• Language Proficiency: An excellent command, both written and spoken, of either English or French is strictly required. Working knowledge of the other language is a strong asset.
• Core Competencies: Must have excellent computer skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to adapt to a highly international working environment.

Internship Conditions & Entitlements

• Financials: UNESCO does not remunerate interns. There is no financial compensation for internship assignments.
• Time Off: Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month, plus an additional 1 working day of leave per complete month of the internship.
• Insurance: UNESCO provides limited workplace insurance coverage against injury, illness, disability, or death incurred directly attributable to the execution of the internship.
