About the Role & Work Environment
Within the framework of the 2026-2030 Country Programme Document, UNDP's work in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is centered on promoting inclusive green growth, advancing human capital development, and strengthening accountable institutions and social cohesion. The Effective Governance Sector (EG) is responsible for implementing projects in the fields of governance, rule of law, and human security. All interventions are carried out in close collaboration with relevant government institutions, UN agencies, multilateral and bilateral partners, the private sector, and civil society organizations. As an intern, you will learn about business administration processes, event organization, and high-level stakeholder engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Sector Leader, the Intern will:
- Assist in research, analysis, monitoring, and tracking of developments in the areas of governance, rule of law, and human security, including preparing briefings and concept notes.
- Support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tasks, including notetaking of key meetings, data collection, and analysis.
- Assist in drafting, editing, and fact-checking reports, developing infographics, and publishing resource materials.
- Engage with key partners (ministries, civil society, private sector) through meetings, mapping of partner activities, and participation in external events.
- Provide essential assistance in organizing internal and external events, supporting team integration, and carrying out communication initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
- Educational Status: You must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level) in social sciences.
- Be currently enrolled in a Master's degree programme.
- Have graduated with a university degree and be willing to start the internship within one year of graduation.
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in any of the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) and good knowledge of English (both written and spoken) are strictly required.
- Technical Skills: Computer literacy in standard office software applications is mandatory. A strong attention to detail and the ability to draft clear written materials are essential.
