About the Role & Work Environment

The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crime of aggression. The Human Resources Section (HRS) provides a unified approach to HR matters across the Court. The HR Organizational Development Unit is responsible for strategic workforce planning, talent management, organizational design, and performance management. As an intern within this unit, you will gain hands-on learning in a multi-disciplinary team, exploring the direct impact of technology on HR management, workforce planning, and the implementation of organizational strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute directly to the maintenance of workforce planning and analytics dashboards and reporting tools, including drafting updates for user manuals.
  • Support the internal promotion of online HR tools and dashboards by preparing engaging communication materials and assisting in information sessions for users.
  • Provide essential administrative and stakeholder management support to the job families project, working alongside external consultants.
  • Contribute to the strategic development and rollout of the internal mobility framework for ICC staff.
  • Conduct targeted research to support continuous workforce planning and other ad-hoc Court-wide HR initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

  • Educational Status: Candidates must have a degree or be in the final stages of a relevant study at a recognized university with a very good record of academic performance. Degrees in Law, Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, Communications, or Marketing are strongly encouraged.
  • Experience Limit: Applicants must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience to be considered. Practical experience is an asset but not an essential prerequisite.
  • Technical Skills: Candidates must have a continuous improvement mindset and be comfortable working with applications such as Office 365, Visio, Power BI, Canva, and SurveyMonkey. Experience with reporting, data, and project management is highly desired.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court (English or French) is strictly required. Working knowledge of the other is highly desirable.
  • Core Competencies: Must demonstrate strong teamwork skills, a pro-active, hands-on approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to a multicultural and multilingual environment.

Remuneration & Conditions

  • Funding Status: Internship placements at the ICC are strictly unfunded. The ICC does not provide remuneration, nor does it reimburse expenses incurred before, during, or after the placement.
  • Self-Support: Applicants must be able to fully support themselves financially for the entire 6-month duration of the internship in The Hague.

  2. A tailored Motivation Letter (maximum of 400 words).
  3. Two distinct reference letters (at least one must be an academic reference).

  5. Scanned copies of official academic transcripts clearly stating courses, results, and completion dates.
  6. One short essay on a subject relevant to the work of the Court (maximum of 750 words, single-spaced, type-written).
