NATO CMRE Visiting Researcher Programme 2026

Are you an elite STEM researcher ready to push the boundaries of global maritime security and defence technology? The NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) in La Spezia, Italy, is offering an extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with world-class scientists on high-stakes oceanic and cyber challenges. Step out of the academic lab and into a dynamic, classified environment where your innovations in AI, underwater robotics, and quantum technology will directly empower the strategic capabilities of the Alliance.

💡 99jobs Pro-Tip: How to Stand Out

To ensure your application isn't immediately rejected, absolutely avoid using generative AI tools like ChatGPT to write your cover letter or CV, as NATO employs strict screening against artificial language generators. Furthermore, rather than submitting a generic application, proactively propose a specific research topic that directly aligns with CMRE's current focus areas—such as autonomous mine countermeasures or cooperative anti-submarine warfare—to prove your immediate value to the division.
