About the Role & Work Environment

The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace. The Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) conducts critical inspections and investigations into allegations of wrongdoing and misconduct. The purpose of these investigations is to establish facts, gather evidence, and enable WFP management to take appropriate action against responsible persons or entities, including WFP personnel, cooperating partners, and vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Investigations Officer (Analyst), the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Assist in comprehensive data collection, cleaning, and collation.
  • Assist in the detailed analysis of OIGI's caseload and/or case-specific datasets.
  • Conduct deep research in internal databases, repositories, and across open sources.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of analytical capabilities within OIGI.
  • Assist with other facets of investigative work, including the preliminary assessment of complaints and assisting with ongoing investigations.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

  • Educational Status: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme, OR recently graduated (within six months prior to the application) from a recognised university. Must have attended university courses in the past 12 months.
  • Relevant Fields: Studies must be in a relevant field, including but not limited to Law, Investigations, Criminology, Social Science, or other related fields.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English is strictly required (proficiency/level C).
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of IT applications in general and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Desired Experience: Previous exposure to investigative settings, knowledge of intelligence analysis disciplines, or experience in conducting crime-related quantitative research is considered an asset.
  • Family Restriction: Sons, daughters, brothers, or sisters of current WFP employees are not eligible to apply.

Remuneration & Conditions

  • Stipend: Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1,000 per month, depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • Travel Reimbursement: WFP will reimburse travel tickets for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • Remote Setup: WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, VISA requests, and related costs.
