The United Nations University (UNU) is a global think tank and postgraduate teaching organization within the UN System. The UNU-Centre Finance team, operating from the Global Services Centre in Putrajaya, Malaysia, provides comprehensive financial services to UNU institutes worldwide. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in UN financial operations, including the use of PeopleSoft ERP and interaction with global stakeholders.

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, the intern will support the following areas:

• Financial Processing:
  • Assist in processing payments and reviewing supporting documents for accuracy.
  • Review and process supplier data entry in the ERP system.
  • Assist in the preparation of GST exemption applications (for Malaysia-based vendors).
• Data & Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Perform data entry and data cleaning tasks.
  • Support the digitalization of financial records.
• Administrative Support:
  • Assist in organizing meetings and taking minutes.
  • Draft routine correspondence and handle inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

• Educational Status: Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Currently enrolled in a final year undergraduate degree programme.
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree programme (Master's or PhD).
  • Have graduated with a university degree within the last two years.
• Field of Study: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Language Skills: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle) is an advantage.
• Competencies:
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Stipend: Interns receive a monthly stipend from UNU to help cover basic subsistence costs.
• Remote Work: This is a full-time remote internship. Interns are expected to have their own computer and reliable internet connection.
• Insurance: Interns must provide proof of health insurance coverage for the duration of the internship.
• Leave: Interns are entitled to 1.5 days of leave per month.
• No Expectation of Employment: The internship does not guarantee future employment with UNU.
