About the Team
The MTIA (Meta Training & Inference Accelerator) Software team is part of the AI & Compute Foundation organization. The team's mission is to explore, develop and help productize high-performance software and hardware technologies for AI at datacenter scale. By investing significantly into optimizing AI production models on existing systems, the team has successfully delivered Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) wins for all key AI services at Meta.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Explore, develop, and help productize high-performance software and hardware technologies for AI at datacenter scale.
- Co-optimize both software (e.g., algorithms and numerics) and hardware (e.g., platform and network) to achieve balanced system designs.
- Analyze and understand performance bottlenecks on existing systems to develop new architectures.
- Optimize AI production models on existing systems to improve efficiency and TCO.
- Develop AI frameworks to accelerate Meta's Deep Learning (DL) and Machine Learning (ML) workloads on the specialized MTIA AI accelerator hardware.
- Develop kernel libraries exploiting various hardware architectural features to achieve high performance for inference and training workloads.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled in a PhD degree program.
- Field of Study: Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, or a related highly technical field.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning frameworks.
- Technical Skills: Experience in software and hardware co-optimization, algorithm development, and numerics.
- Systems Architecture: Knowledge of platform and network hardware architecture, and experience analyzing performance bottlenecks.
- Programming: Strong programming skills necessary for developing AI frameworks and kernel libraries for hardware accelerators.
