About the Lab
The Standards & Mobility Innovation (SMI) team is committed to developing technologies that enable ubiquitous access to information and provide immersive multimedia experiences for mobility users. The lab's research focuses on wireless standards and technology (including 5G/6G, Wi-Fi, FiRa/UWB), RF & fast prototyping of 5G systems, multimedia standards (VR, HDR), and IoT standards and Smart Home connectivity.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct research on applying AI/ML techniques to Radio Access Network (RAN) optimization.
- Design and implement AI/ML-based algorithms for key AI-RAN use cases, including channel estimation, channel prediction, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI models into system-level simulations.
- Analyze simulation results and provide comprehensive insights on performance and feasibility.
- Contribute to technical papers and potentially file patents based on research findings.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Status: Current Ph.D. or Master's student.
- Field of Study: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of wireless communication principles, particularly 4G LTE and 5G NR.
- AI/ML Expertise: Strong background in machine learning and deep learning concepts. Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
