About the Bureau
The Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS) supports the Arab States region's progress towards high human development, resilience building, climate action, and innovation. The Bureau operates its headquarters in New York, coordinating regional and country programmes in 17 countries, while its Regional Hub in Amman delivers technical, programmatic, and operational support across the region.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare policy briefs, sector scans, and status papers on development challenges based on desk review studies and analysis.
- Assist in project design, formulation, and development of technical support for new interventions.
- Support the coordination, monitoring, and reporting of projects and initiatives.
- Prepare and disseminate knowledge and communication products (social media content, press releases, blogs, and infographics).
- Undertake research, data collection, and manage online databases for specific initiatives.
- Provide administrative, logistical, and operational support, including organizing workshops, conferences, and procurement processes.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (Master's or higher).
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor's or equivalent).
- Have graduated with a university degree and be able to commence the internship within one year of graduation.
- Or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Languages: Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Arabic and French language skills are an asset.
- Experience: Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills. Good command of information and communication technology.
- Competencies: Strong sense of collaborative work, teamwork, keen attention to detail, and a proven interest in the development field.
- Knowledge of the Arab region would be highly helpful.

Internship Conditions
- Stipend: Interns not financially supported by an institution or scholarship will receive a monthly stipend from UNDP to help cover basic daily expenses.
- Leave: Interns will accrue combined sick and annual leave at the rate of 1.5 days per month.
- Visa & Travel: Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station. (Note: US Permanent Residents applying for NY may have visa implications).
- Insurance: Interns are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance.
