About the Project
The Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) is a global programme that develops and implements methodologies to measure existing biodiversity expenditure levels, assess future financial needs, and design comprehensive plans to improve the financial effectiveness of biodiversity management. The intern will support the national BIOFIN China team and implementing partners, particularly the Shandong team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support with financial and administrative requirements of the project, including procurement, funding, and accounting.
- Facilitate, guide, and monitor the work of the national BIOFIN team and manage payment schedules.
- Assist in planning and organizing project-related activities, meetings, local and national consultations, and travel arrangements.
- Take meeting notes, draft minutes, and document decisions and actions.
- Support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of projects at the national level and assist in drafting progress reports.
- Support scoping research into key current issues and the development of publications (e.g., Policy and Institutional Review, Biodiversity Expenditure Review, Financial Needs Assessment).
- Manage the project budget and ensure financial resources are disbursed on time to implementing partners.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (Master's or higher) OR in the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor's).
- Alternatively, must have recently graduated with a university degree and be able to start the internship within one year of graduation, OR be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
- Major in English, environmental science, or related fields is highly preferred.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Fluency in both Chinese and English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong partnership building skills, with abilities in conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Solution-oriented contacting with related different stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
- Computer proficiency, especially related to professional office software packages (Microsoft Office).

Internship Conditions
