About WFP Tanzania

WFP Tanzania, through its Country Strategic Plan (2022-2027), supports the Government of Tanzania in delivering inclusive economic growth through investments in human capital and nutritious diets. The Tanzania School Feeding Project, implemented with government and Canadian funding, aims to address gender norms and barriers affecting education and nutrition.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (Gender, Protection and Youth), the intern will support the following activities:

  • Analysis & Research:
    • Identify entry points for integrating gender, protection, and inclusion in the project.
    • Support the analysis of gender norms affecting school feeding and attendance in Lindi and Mtwara.
    • Review and contribute to the Gender and Intersectional Analysis.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management:
    • Assist in documenting gender-responsive lessons learned and good practices.
    • Support the collection and analysis of sex-, age-, and disability-disaggregated data.
    • Develop knowledge materials (case studies, human-interest stories).
  • Coordination & Events:
    • Support coordination with schools, communities, and local government authorities.
    • Assist in organizing trainings, workshops, and review meetings.
    • Participate in field monitoring visits to Lindi and Mtwara regions.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Educational Status: Candidates must meet one of the following:
    • Currently enrolled in a Postgraduate (Master's) programme.
    • Recent graduate (Undergraduate or Postgraduate) within six months prior to application and attended classes in the last 12 months.
  • Field of Study: Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, Education, Human Rights, Social Work, or related fields.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English and Swahili is required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 6 months to 2 years of experience (including internships/volunteering) in gender, protection, and inclusion.
    • Experience working with Government, NGOs, or the UN is an advantage.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Good report writing and documentation skills.
    • Basic understanding of gender analysis and intersectionality.
  • Competencies: Proactive, flexible, strong interpersonal skills, and willingness to travel to Lindi and Mtwara regions.
