About the Unit
The Central Procurement Unit (CPU) at UNDP Headquarters provides procurement support to HQ units and Country Offices. The unit ensures that procurement activities are conducted in accordance with UNDP's rules and regulations, promoting transparency, accountability, and best value for money. Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Procurement Specialist, the intern will perform the following duties:
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Assist in data collection and analysis related to procurement activities.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations for management.
- Market Research:
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and innovative solutions.
- Update and maintain the supplier database.
- Procurement Support:
- Assist in the preparation of solicitation documents (RFQ, RFP, ITB).
- Support the evaluation of offers and the preparation of contract awards.
- Assist in contract management and vendor performance monitoring.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Organize and archive procurement files.
- Assist in organizing meetings and training sessions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Status: Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's, PhD, or equivalent).
- Currently enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor's or equivalent).
- Have graduated with a university degree and can start the internship within one year of graduation.
- Field of Study: Business Administration, Public Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or Law.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of another UN language (French or Spanish) is an asset.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Oracle/Atlas) is an advantage.
- Competencies:
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Interest in the UN system and development work.
