About the Role & Work Environment
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Azerbaijan has been operational since 1996, implementing a wide range of programmes spanning migration governance, resilience building, and climate action. The Climate Action Unit leads the Mission's work on human mobility in the context of climate change, supporting national processes like NAPs and NDCs. As an intern, you will play an active role in major climate and urban development processes, including COP29 preparations and engagement with the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in supporting Mission's activities across various portfolios, including migration, environment, climate change, and assisted voluntary return and reintegration.
- Collect, review, and synthesize information on climate mobility trends and their relevance to IOM's work in Azerbaijan.
- Develop event-coordination and logistical skills by supporting the organization of meetings, visits, and activities in the lead-up to and during WUF13[cite: 2071].
- Draft high-quality written outputs, including correspondence, briefing notes, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain the Climate Action SharePoint workspace and support systematic document archiving.
- Monitor media coverage related to the Mission's work and developments regarding WUF13.
- Assist with routine office processes, including preparing purchase and payment requests.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
- Educational Status: Must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree, enrolled in a graduate degree programme, or have graduated within the last 12 months.
- Age Requirement: Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old.
- Experience: Experience working with or volunteering for international organizations or NGOs in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage. Previous experience in project management and administration is also an advantage.

Remuneration & Conditions

- Insurance: IOM covers interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan. However, interns are strictly responsible for providing their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses and must provide written proof before commencing work.
