About the Role & Work Environment
The UNDP Information and Technology Management (ITM) Office in Copenhagen supports UNDP Country Offices around the world with ICT, Green Energy, and other technical services under the Smart Facilities initiative. The Cloud Infrastructure Services unit enables smart UN facilities by implementing modern cloud-based services. Operating out of the UN City in Copenhagen, this internship bridges the gap between textbook learning and real-world industry experience, allowing interns to interact with professionals from over 170 countries while making a direct global impact.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provision and support Core Infrastructure and various Cloud services.
- Provide technical advisory and direct support for existing Cloud services globally.
- Assist the team in the seamless implementation and rollout of new Cloud solutions.
- Prepare, draft, and publish internal technical documentation and knowledge base articles for the user community.
- Prepare and actively conduct webinars and staff training sessions.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
- Educational Status: Must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme, in the final academic year of a Bachelor's degree, enrolled in a postgraduate traineeship, OR have graduated within the last year.
- Technical Proficiency: Required knowledge in networking/network security (TCP/IP, NAT, firewalls), server OS (Windows Server, Linux), cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS), and Mobile Device Management solutions.
- Highly Desired Skills: Experience with scripting languages, web standards, and data analysis is considered a strong advantage.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English is strictly required. Working knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
- Core Competencies: Client-oriented mindset, process innovation, and the ability to manage projects and analyze complex data.
Remuneration & Conditions
- Financial Support: In-person interns who are not financially supported by an external institution will receive a monthly stipend (approximately USD 1,000 depending on the duty location rate) to help cover basic daily expenses.
- Insurance & Living Costs: Interns are fully responsible for securing adequate medical insurance and providing a certificate of good health. UNDP does not reimburse medical insurance or costs arising from accidents/illness.
- Visas & Travel: The intern is solely responsible for obtaining the necessary visas, ensuring eligibility for residency, and arranging travel to and from Denmark.
