About the Role & Work Environment
The UNSSC Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development (KCSD) supports the policy and operational work of the UN through the development of learning tools and executive programmes around the five dimensions of sustainable development: people, prosperity, planet, partnership, and peace. The KCSD is looking for an intern to help run its flagship programme, the Digital Transformation Academy, scheduled for 18 to 20 August 2026. Under the theme 'Governance for Sustainable Development', this dynamic virtual forum will gather global experts, government members, and sustainability actors to co-create solutions addressing the climate crisis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and operating the communications plan and participant selection process for the DT Academy 2026.
- Undertake desk research on issues relevant to the DT Academy theme (Multilevel Governance, Green and Just Transitions) and support the compilation of presentation materials.
- Provide administrative and logistical support by setting up and hosting Zoom meetings, managing breakout rooms, and offering technical assistance to participants.
- Support the maintenance of e-learning activities on UNSSC's DT Academy platform, Howspace.
- Create, edit, and manage content for UNSSC KCSD online learning environments and social media platforms.
- Support the data collection process for learning needs assessments and help draft a final narrative report.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
- Educational Status: Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have completed a University programme in international relations, security, peace and conflict studies, gender, education, or an area related to UNSSC priorities.
- Technical Skills: Proven ability to use the MS Office Package, web-based authoring tools (Articulate Rise), web conferencing (Zoom), e-learning tools (Moodle, Mentimeter, Mural), and content creation platforms (Canva, Genially, Adobe Express) is highly desired.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of written and spoken English is strictly required. Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an advantage.
- Core Competencies: Must have strong personal time management, the ability to convert abstract ideas into simple concepts, and the capacity to adapt to heavy workloads and strict deadlines.
Remuneration & Conditions
- Financial Stipend: The intern will receive a monthly stipend from UNSSC fixed at 600€ to assist in covering basic subsistence costs. No other payment will be made.
- Expenses: As this is a home-based assignment, interns are fully responsible for their own internet, living expenses, and any health insurance costs.
- Career Prospects: Interns are not considered staff members. Assignments do not carry expectations of conversion, and interns may not apply for Professional positions during the internship and for six months immediately following its expiration.
