About the Internship Programme
This internship is located in the Trade, Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Branch of the Division on International Trade and Commodities (DITC) at UNCTAD. The programme is intended to expose students or recent graduates to the work of the UN, enhancing their educational experience. The position is offered on either an in-person basis (Geneva) or remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of the Branch, the intern will support the "Trade and Biodiversity" work and the "Trade 4 Biodiversity" initiative. Duties include:
- Communications Support: Manage website, social media, and communications with partners for the "Trade 4 Biodiversity" initiative.
- Content Creation: Prepare briefing notes, inputs for speeches, PowerPoint presentations, flyers, and social media cards.
- Fundraising Support: Help develop a fundraising strategy, research donors, and prepare concept notes.
- Programmatic Support: Assist in preparing inputs for special initiatives advocating for sustainable trade.
- General: Edit web pages and perform other related duties as required.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic Enrollment: Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (Master's, PhD, or equivalent).
- Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor's or equivalent).
- Field of Study: Communications, journalism, economics, development, law, political science, or other related social sciences.
- Computer Skills: Must be computer literate in standard software applications. Remote interns must have access to a computer with Office 365.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Core Competencies:
- Keen interest in the work of the United Nations.
- Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.
- Willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions.
