About the Programme
FAO leads international efforts to defeat hunger and ensure regular access to high-quality food for all. The Internship Programme aims to attract highly motivated young women and men to share their innovative ideas and latest academic experience. Interns will contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework to support the 2030 Agenda for more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agri-food systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Interns will report to an assigned supervisor and be placed in different fields of work according to their profile and the needs of the Organization.
- Perform specific functions and tasks detailed in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the respective hiring office.
- Contribute new perspectives and academic insights to FAO's domains of work.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme in a "bona fide" educational institution at the time of application, or be a recent graduate.
- Educational qualifications must be from an institution accredited/recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
- Age Limit: Candidates should be aged between 21 and 30.
- Nationality: Must be a national of an FAO Member country.
- Family Restriction: Candidates with immediate family members (mother, father, sister, or brother) employed by FAO are not eligible.
- Candidates who have already undertaken an internship assignment at FAO are not eligible to apply again.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Languages: Working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish). Knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset.
- Academic Background: Must specialize in a field relevant to the mission and work of FAO.
- Core Competencies: Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, and Knowledge Sharing & Continuous Improvement.
