About the Programme
The Field Personnel Section (FPS) in the Capacity Development and Implementation (CDI) Bureau is responsible for the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) programme. The programme was launched to ensure that enough qualified and competent aviation professionals are available to operate, manage, and maintain the current and future international air transport system. It serves as a global platform for exchanging information and best practices to support States and industry partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the overall preparation of the NGAP Global Summit, workshops, webinars, and associated activities.
- Support the coordination and preparation of background, reference, and outreach materials, as well as communication activities on NGAP.
- Update and maintain the NGAP Global Summit website and other social media platforms to ensure accurate and relevant information.
- Prepare reports and meeting minutes, and assist in drafting correspondence, speeches, talking points, and presentations.
- Conduct research on the latest data, best practices, and information concerning NGAP initiatives.
- Contribute to the redesign of ICAO's public website content related to NGAP.
- Support activities related to coordination and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Status: Must have completed or be currently enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree or higher).
- Alternative Education: Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies towards a degree.
- Field of Study: Preferably in a field related to political science, law, public administration, management, or a related field in the aviation sector.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Languages: Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English are essential. A working knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with website content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and collaborative document processing tools is an asset.
- Core Competencies: Professionalism (speaks and writes clearly), Teamwork (works collaboratively), Client Orientation (identifies client needs and matches solutions), and Creativity (thinks "outside the box" and actively seeks to improve programs).

Internship Conditions
- Financial Support: Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern.
- Work Schedule: The intern is expected to work five days a week on a full-time basis (9 AM - 5 PM). This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days a week in the Montreal office.
- Visa/Work Permit: You may need a work permit to work in Canada as an intern.
- Employment Restrictions: Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the internship, nor are they eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.
