About the Role & Work Environment

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading UN agency in the field of migration, dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. The mission's Protection and Border Governance Unit (PBGU) in Thailand collaborates with partners to safeguard the rights and well-being of migrants, including victims of trafficking, refugees, and unaccompanied minors. Working under the project "Enhancing the Capacity of Thailand to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants through Enhanced Border Management," funded by the Government of Canada, you will help reduce threats from human trafficking syndicates to affected populations, including diverse SOGIESC individuals in Southeast Asia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, logistical arrangement, and delivery of capacity-building activities and workshops for government, civil society, and private-sector partners.
  • Document lessons learned, good practices, and progress from field activities and bilateral engagements to inform future programming.
  • Organize multi-stakeholder coordination meetings, such as provincial protection committees, by preparing briefing notes and follow-up trackers.
  • Maintain orderly filing systems and update the Unit's training resources repository, including SOPs and presentations.
  • Travel as necessary with the PBGU team within Thailand to provide on-the-ground support for community outreach activities.
  • Assist with administrative coordination, including venue booking, travel support, and documentation for payments.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

  • Nationality: This position is strictly open for Thai Nationals Only.
  • Educational Status: Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from a Bachelor's or Master's programme in communications, social work, international relations, law, development studies, or migration studies.
  • Age Requirement: Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old with less than two years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience: Prior experience working on the protection of vulnerable migrant populations or counter-trafficking interventions is considered a strong asset.
  • Language Proficiency: Exceptional proficiency in both English and Thai is required and will be evaluated.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint.
