About the Division
UN Climate Change supports all aspects of the intergovernmental process to address climate change, including the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The gender team supports Parties with respect to the Convention and provides advice to secretariat management and staff on gender equality and women's empowerment. The team is located in the Communications and Engagement division, which focuses on communicating authoritative information and proactively building support among all stakeholders to facilitate climate action.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Track and manage information on women's participation in national delegations and UNFCCC constituted bodies.
- Review national reports and communications submitted by Parties for gender-responsive climate policy and action.
- Maintain and improve relevant databases.
- Research topics and prepare written summaries on gender and climate change.
- Attend virtual or in-person meetings, draft notes, and assist in communicating information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the team's social media and communication outputs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD programme at a recognized university at the time of application and for the duration of the internship; OR
- Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor's programme; OR
- Graduated with a university degree within the last 12 months.
- Field of Study: Public policy, international relations, gender/women's studies, law, environmental studies, or a related field.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Languages: Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
- Skills: Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- IT Skills: Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with internet and social media platforms.
- Other: Ability to work in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.

Internship Conditions
- Remuneration: UNFCCC secretariat internships are not remunerated. The selected intern is responsible for all costs before, during, and after the assignment.
