About the Role & Unit
The UNDP Economic Lab is the premier analytical and modelling unit supporting the Governments of Mauritius and Seychelles. The lab specializes in macroeconomic policy, SDG-aligned planning, fiscal analysis, competitiveness, investment, and national development strategies. As an intern, you will help produce high-level economic diagnostics, foresight analysis, and evidence-based policy recommendations that directly influence national decision-making and sustainable development trajectories.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Economic Research and Policy Analysis: Conduct literature reviews, data extraction, and mapping for policy papers covering SDG financing, fiscal policy, public investment assessment, and trade performance (including AfCFTA opportunities and SIDS export vulnerabilities).
- Data Analytics and Modelling: Clean, organize, and analyze complex datasets utilizing Stata, R, or Python. Assist in building interactive dashboards, simulation models, and robust forecasting tools.
- National Development Planning Support: Draft analytical inputs for major strategic frameworks including Vision 2050, the 10-Year National Development Plan (NDP10), and sectoral transformation strategies.

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Status: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (master's or higher).
