About the Role & Work Environment

The UNDP Global Policy Centre for Governance (GPCG) in Oslo is UNDP's dedicated hub for advancing global dialogue and knowledge on inclusive, transformative governance. With a strong thematic focus on financial integrity and data, the Centre develops integrated alternatives to persistent problems—building trust in governance systems and advancing sustainable development. As a Financial Integrity Intern, you will focus on systemic de-risking approaches that improve accountability, tackle corruption, and create an enabling environment for sustainable global investment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive research on financial integrity, including literature reviews, deep data analysis, and drafting detailed reports.
• Support the strategic organization of high-level engagements, such as country-level dialogues, global roundtables, and international side events.
• Assist in the production of vital knowledge products and the development of advocacy materials including concept notes, proposals, speeches, and social media content.
• Actively participate in both internal and external meetings, engaging with project stakeholders, headquarters colleagues, and collaborative partners.
• Help enlarge the Centre's network of research and knowledge partnerships, specifically targeting institutions in Nordic and Global South countries.
• Assist in organizing and executing the official launches of UNDP reports and public awareness events.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

• Educational Status: Applicants must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor's), enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (Master's or higher), enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship, OR have recently graduated within one year of the internship start date.
• Preferred Fields: Degrees in economics, international finance, international development, or other relevant social sciences are highly preferred.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in spoken and written English is strictly required. A working knowledge of Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish is highly desired.
• Core Competencies: Demonstrated interest in public financial management, fiscal transparency, and tax justice. You must be an independent, proactive team player with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Additional Knowledge: Familiarity with the political landscape in Norway and key research institutions in the Global South is considered a strong asset.

Remuneration & Conditions

• Stipend: In accordance with UNDP policy, interns are eligible to receive a monthly stipend (rate varies by duty location). If an intern receives external financial support, UNDP will pay the difference to match the applicable stipend.
• Expenses: All other expenses connected with the internship (travel, accommodation, insurance) will be borne by the intern or their sponsoring institution.
• Visa Notice for US Residents: US Permanent Residents ('Green Card' holders) may be required to relinquish their status and accept a G-4 visa to take on staff positions at the UN, though they should consult legal advice regarding implications.
