Sports Authority of India (SAI), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, invites applications from eligible, qualified, and motivated Indian Citizens for engagement as Assistant Professor (Physical Education) on regular basis for SAI Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE), Thiruvananthapuram. SAI is mandated with development and promotion of Sports in the country with a focus on achieving excellence in international competitions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Training: Conduct undergraduate and postgraduate level courses in Physical Education; prepare and deliver lectures, practical sessions, seminars; guide students in practical exercises, fitness regimens, sports training; evaluate students through assignments, practical examinations
2. Research and Development: Undertake research in Physical Education, Sports Science, Fitness; contribute to academic publications, conferences, symposia; supervise research projects, thesis, dissertations for post-graduate students
3. Physical Fitness & Wellness Activities: Organize fitness programs, physical training, wellness activities; promote physical fitness through workshops, fitness camps; assist in management and maintenance of sports facilities and equipment
4. Administration and Coordination: Actively participate in management of sports events, competitions, athletic meets at inter-college, state, national levels; contribute to development and updating of syllabus, curriculum, student evaluation methods
5. Professional Development: Attend faculty development programs, workshops, conferences; engage in continuous learning and upgradation of knowledge in physical education, physical fitness, health sciences
6. Any other task assigned by Reporting Officer/Competent Authority

Essential Qualifications (As per UGC Regulations 2018 or amended):

• Masters Degree: 55% marks or equivalent grade in Physical Education from Indian University or equivalent degree from accredited foreign university
• NET Qualification: Cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or similar test accredited by UGC

OR (NET Exemption):

• Ph.D. degree in Physical Education awarded in accordance with UGC Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Regulations, 2009 or 2016, exempted from NET subject to fulfillment of following conditions:
  • Ph.D. degree awarded in regular mode
  • Ph.D. thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners
  • Open Ph.D. viva voce conducted
  • Published two research papers from Ph.D. work (at least one in refereed journal)
  • Presented at least two papers based on Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agency
  • Fulfillment certified by Registrar/Dean/Head of Institution of concerned university

OR:

• Ph.D. degree obtained in Physical Education from foreign university/institution ranked among top 500 in World University Rankings by QS/Times Higher Education (THE)/ARWU (Shanghai)

Desirable Qualifications:

• Theory Knowledge: Sports Psychology, Exercise Physiology, Sports Biomechanics, GTMT, Sports Kinanthropometry, Anti-Doping
• Practical/Activity: Athletics, Cricket, Tennis, Swimming, Gymnastics, Badminton, Table Tennis, Hockey, Yoga, any indigenous activities, Wrestling, Football, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Light Apparatus, Mass Demonstration, Calisthenics, Lezim, Dumbbells, Aerobics, Mallakhamb, Handball, Judo, Taekwondo
• Diploma in Coaching or sport specialization at National or International level
• Inter University/State/Khelo India/University Games participation in the game/sports concerned

• OBC Candidates: 5% relaxation at Bachelors and Masters level (Non-Creamy Layer)
• SC/ST/OBC/PwBD: Qualifying marks relaxation from 55% to 50%
• Ph.D. Degree holders (Masters before 19 Sept 1991): Relaxation from 55% to 50%
• Reservation: As per Government of India guidelines
