About the Unit
The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) functions as a multilateral investment organization for the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). It provides blended finance solutions to unlock public and private resources to reduce poverty and support local economic development. The Partnerships, Policy and Communications unit coordinates strategic engagements, resource mobilization, and communications, working closely with UN Member States, the Executive Board, and major global forums to ensure UNCDF's mission remains at the forefront of international development agendas.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support UNCDF's engagement with Member States by assisting in the organization of high-level events, meetings, and consultations (e.g., Executive Board sessions, UN General Assembly, ECOSOC).
- Monitor and follow key intergovernmental processes relevant to UNCDF's mandate, such as Financing for Development and COP, taking notes and synthesizing takeaways.
- Compile, organize, and manage crucial contacts using mailing lists and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
- Draft, review, and edit briefing notes, concept notes, analytical reports, and executive talking points.
- Assist in creating compelling communication materials for social media platforms and the official UNCDF website to boost organizational visibility.
- Provide general logistical and administrative support to the Partnerships, Policy, and Communications team as required.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Status: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (master's or higher).
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (bachelor's or equivalent).
- Have recently graduated with a university degree (and must start the internship within one year of graduation).
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
- Field of Study: International Relations, Communications, Public Administration, Economics, or closely related fields.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of other official UN languages is highly desired and considered an asset.
- Writing & Research: Excellent writing, drafting, and analytical research skills are essential for preparing policy briefs and concept notes.
- Digital Literacy: Strong proficiency in standard office software and familiarity with CRM tools and social media management.
- Soft Skills: The ability to work seamlessly in a multicultural, diverse environment, coupled with a proactive, self-starting attitude suitable for remote work.

- Work Model: This is a 100% Home-Based (remote) internship. Interns must have their own reliable internet connection, hardware (laptop/computer), and software to perform their duties.
