The Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS) at UNESCO strives to accomplish a fundamental humanist mission. Its work focuses on:

• Enhancing efforts against violence, racism, and discrimination.
• Combatting gender stereotypes.
• Deploying the power of sports for social inclusion.
• Promoting intercultural dialogue and supporting youth, women, and people with disabilities.
• Fostering inclusive societies and ensuring the ethical development of emerging technologies (including Artificial Intelligence).

Interns will support the sector in various administrative and programme-related tasks, including:

• Programme Support: Assist in the implementation of projects and programmes within the SHS mandate.
• Research & Analysis: Conduct thematic research and analyze data to support policy development.
• Communication: Assist in drafting reports, briefing notes, and communication materials.
• Events: Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and conferences.
• Administrative Tasks: Perform general administrative duties as required by the supervisor.

• Age: Must be at least 20 years old.
• Academic Status: Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent).
  • Currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
  • Have graduated with a Master's or Bachelor's degree within the last 12 months.
• Languages: Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English or French. Knowledge of other UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.

• Skills:
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a multicultural team.
• Insurance: Must have comprehensive health and accident insurance valid in the country of the internship.

• Remuneration: Interns are not remunerated. All costs (travel, visa, accommodation, living expenses) are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
• Visa: Interns are responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
• Medical Insurance: Interns must provide proof of valid health insurance coverage.
• Medical Certificate: A medical certificate of good health is required before starting.
