About the Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS)
The Social and Human Sciences Sector (SHS) at UNESCO strives to accomplish a fundamental humanist mission. Its work focuses on:
- Enhancing efforts against violence, racism, and discrimination.

Duties and Responsibilities
Interns will support the sector in various administrative and programme-related tasks, including:
- Programme Support: Assist in the implementation of projects and programmes within the SHS mandate.
- Research & Analysis: Conduct thematic research and analyze data to support policy development.
- Communication: Assist in drafting reports, briefing notes, and communication materials.
- Events: Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and conferences.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform general administrative duties as required by the supervisor.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Must be at least 20 years old.
- Academic Status: Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent).
- Currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
- Have graduated with a Master's or Bachelor's degree within the last 12 months.
- Languages: Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English or French. Knowledge of other UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

Internship Conditions
- Remuneration: Interns are not remunerated. All costs (travel, visa, accommodation, living expenses) are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
