The WIPO Internship Program supports WIPO's mission to promote innovation and creativity for the economic, social, and cultural development of all countries. It enables interns to learn about the core values and initiatives of WIPO while complementing their educational experience. This roster is not linked to a specific position but welcomes applications for openings throughout 2026.
Interns will engage in work within an international context, bringing fresh perspectives and knowledge of the latest research in their specialist fields. Specific duties will depend on the needs of the hiring department at the time of appointment.
- Educational Status: Candidates must satisfy one of the following:
- Completed a first-level university degree (Bachelor's) or higher.
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate-level degree program (Master's, PhD).
- Be enrolled in the final year of a first-level university degree program.
- Recent Graduates: Graduates are eligible to apply for up to two years after the completion of their most recent degree.
- Language Skills: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of any other UN official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other IT software).
- Good research and analytical skills.
WIPO provides a monthly stipend to interns who are not paid by another institution. The rates are as follows:
- Category I: 1,645 Swiss Francs (CHF) per month (First-level university degree or currently enrolled in final year).
- Category II: 2,170 Swiss Francs (CHF) per month (Postgraduate degree or currently enrolled in postgraduate studies).
- Travel: Reimbursement of round-trip travel ticket for interns domiciled outside the duty station (subject to policy).
