About UNDP & The Role
UNDP is the knowledge frontier organization for sustainable development in the UN Development System. The Rule of Law and Human Rights (RoLSHR) unit at the UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub supports countries in the Asia-Pacific region to strengthen the rule of law and advocate for inclusive justice pathways. This role focuses on Digital Justice and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in justice systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will support research, knowledge management, and programme activities related to digital transformation in the justice sector. Key duties include:
- Research and Policy Support (60%):
- Conduct desk research on digital justice, AI deployment in justice systems, and emerging trends.
- Prepare policy briefs, concept notes, and presentations on AI-assisted adjudication and online courts.
- Document good practices and case studies from Asia-Pacific countries.
- Knowledge Management & Communications (30%):
- Develop knowledge products and communication materials (briefs, factsheets, web content).
- Maintain and update knowledge repositories and databases.
- Support the regional Community of Practice regarding justice innovation.
- Other Support (10%):
- Participate in team meetings and strategy sessions.
- Support other relevant tasks as identified by the supervisor.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Status: Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Currently in the final year of a Bachelor's degree.
- Currently enrolled in a Master's degree.
- Have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Field of Study: Technology and Society, Digital Governance, International Development, Law, Political Science, Sociology, or related fields in Social Sciences/Humanities.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Language Skills: Excellent writing and drafting skills in English are required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Demonstrated interest in rule of law, justice reform, digital governance, or AI and human rights.
- Strong research and analytical skills; ability to synthesize complex technical information.
- Familiarity with digital tools, data visualization, or knowledge management platforms is an asset.
- IT Skills: Proficient user of Microsoft Office productivity tools and various AI tools/platforms.

Internship Conditions
