About the Role & Environment

The Executive Board Secretariat (EBS), officiating from UN Women's Executive Director's Office, is the critical interface between UN-Women and the Member States of the United Nations. The Secretary and the Secretariat team directly support the President and the four Vice Presidents of the Executive Board. During this internship, you will learn to work in a fast-paced environment and get first-hand experience in supporting crucial intergovernmental processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of briefing notes, talking points, and other official documentation through researching relevant global topics.
- Draft critical correspondence that supports the team with coordinating relevant meetings of the Executive Board.
- Assist in the digital communications of the Executive Board Secretariat, including maintaining the EB website, updating distribution lists, and managing the Executive Board X (formerly Twitter) account.
- Help finalize and regularly update the matrix monitoring the implementation of UN-Women Executive Board decisions in liaison with divisions across the organization.
- Support the Analyst in arranging logistics and providing high-level administrative support for meetings and related events.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
- Educational Background: University studies in Social Sciences, Political Science, International Relations, Philosophy, or other relevant subjects is strictly required.
- Academic Status: Must meet ONE of the following: (1) Enrolled in a graduate school programme, (2) Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree (Bachelor's), (3) Graduated with a university degree and commencing internship within two years of graduation, or (4) Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
