About the Role & Work Environment
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, takes the lead in protecting people forced to flee wars and persecution around the world, providing life-saving aid to ensure their basic safety, rights, and dignity. Supervised by the Head of Field Unit, the Information Management Intern will work closely with the entire Nouadhibou team to support activities related to registration, Refugee Status Determination (RSD), community-based protection, and mixed movements. This non-remote role also involves strong collaboration with the Information Management Officer and the Protection team located in Nouakchott.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the production of dashboards, statistics, and visualizations to support decision-making and presentations.
- Assist with the cleaning, harmonization, and quality control of data received from the field and partners.
- Prepare monthly and weekly reports related to protection and assistance activities.
- Support the design and administration of data collection tools such as Kobo and online forms.
- Assist with managing monitoring systems such as ProGres v4, RAIS, or other locally used platforms.
- Contribute to service mapping and geolocation of services, flows, or interventions as needed.
- Ensure the archiving, organization, and secure storage of documents and files related to data management.
- Participate in training or technical support to partners and colleagues on information management good practices.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
- Educational Status: A degree or certificate in information technology, information management, statistical data management, or another related field is required.
- Language Proficiency: English at a B2 level is the first required language, and proficiency in French is also strictly required. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset.
- Technical Skills: Candidates must be capable of supporting data collection tools, managing statistical data, and producing technical dashboards and visualizations.
