About the OHCHR Centre in Doha

The United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region (based in Doha) works to strengthen human rights knowledge and skills. The intern will work under the overall guidance of the Head of the Centre and the direct supervision of an assigned human rights officer to support the Centre in fulfilling its mandate.

About the Internship Programme – Learning Objectives

The intern will gain hands-on experience in human rights education, training, and documentation. They will work in coordination with various human rights officers, covering fields such as knowledge management, database handling, and event organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Training & Documentation Support:
    • Support the human rights education and training unit and the knowledge management/documentation unit.
    • Help organize meetings, training programs, workshops, and related tasks.
  • Data & Research:
    • Assist with database management: collecting, analyzing, and storing data in an organized manner.
    • Research human rights issues relevant to the mandate of the Centre.
    • Collect data and information relevant to human rights work and perform data entry.
  • Translation & Admin:
    • Support in translating documents from English to Arabic and vice versa.
    • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to administrative tasks (drafting minutes, preparing participant lists, concept notes, etc.).
Eligibility Criteria
  • Education Status: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Experience: No work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
Age Limit

No specific age limit is mentioned; eligibility is strictly based on current academic enrollment or recent graduation status.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a degree in Political Science, Social Science, Law, Human Rights, International Relations, or any other relevant field.
