UNFPA Global Internship Roster 2026 | Apply Open Until 01 January 2027

UNFPA is the lead United Nations agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. The UNFPA Strategic Plan for 2026-2029 focuses on ending the unmet need for family planning, ending preventable maternal deaths, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices.

This roster allows UNFPA to identify eligible candidates for internship opportunities that arise throughout the year (2026) across various locations. Selected interns will contribute to the organization's response to complex global environments and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

While specific duties vary by assignment and location, interns generally assist with:

• Supporting the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
• Contributing to evidence-based and rights-based policy work.
• Adapting to demographic changes and supporting resilience efforts.
• Engaging in achieving results, thinking analytically, and working in teams.

• Educational Status: Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Be enrolled in a first university degree programme (Bachelor's or equivalent) and have completed one full academic year.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (Master's or higher).
  • Have recently graduated (must start internship within one year of graduation).
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme.
• Family Restriction: Individuals with immediate family members (father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister) working as UNFPA staff are not eligible.

• Language Skills: Proficiency in written and spoken English or French is required. Fluency in the official language of the specific UNFPA office (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.

• Stipend: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party (university, government, etc.) are eligible to receive a stipend.
• Payment: The stipend is paid in local currency at the end of each month to contribute towards living expenses.
• Remote Work: If the arrangement is remote, the stipend is based on the intern's agreed place of work.

UNFPA does not charge any application, processing, training, interviewing, testing, or other fee in connection with the application or recruitment process.
