The UCAN Social team is a fan-first marketing team at Netflix that focuses on promoting company initiatives (Live, Games, Publishing), engaging fans, partnering with social platforms, and driving revenue. This team manages all social pages for the Netflix brand and its titles, developing exciting, hilarious, and thoughtful campaigns that ignite fandom across the internet.
The UCAN Social Marketing internship is an opportunity for the next generation of entertainment-obsessed writers, brand strategists, community managers, and content creators. Over the course of the program, you will learn to read trends and create content that Netflix fans love to engage with. You will gain experience in Content Strategy (story ideation & planning), Production, and Community Management.
Under the guidance of a manager, interns will perform the following tasks:
- Trend Analysis: Weekly analysis of User Generated Content (UGC) and reporting on meme culture.
- Reactive Content: Mine for reactive content opportunities by finding and responding to hot conversations each week.
- Content Creation: Create content (features & fixtures) and evaluate performance results to inform future creation.
- Social Management: Maintain social posting calendars and develop strategies to grow new and existing social pages.
- Production Support: Assist before and during social A/V shoots, including administrative support and research.
- Education: Must be in your junior or senior year pursuing an Undergraduate or Masters degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, journalism, or a related field.
- Coursework: Completed relevant coursework (journalism, digital strategy, writing seminars, graphic design, etc.).
- Experience: Completed at least 1 relevant internship outside of work on campus.
- Work Authorization: Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
- Age Limit: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Technical Skills: Photoshop and video editing software capabilities are strongly preferred. Experience with Google Suite (calendars, docs, slides, sheets) and Slack.
- Passion: Deep interest and curiosity in social platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.) and what drives content sharing.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to behave professionally around stars of Netflix films/series.
- Eagerness to work in a high-performing, collaborative environment.
- Ability to receive constructive feedback openly.
