UNDP Serbia works with government, partners, UN agencies, civil society and communities to promote sustainable human development, accountable institutions, inclusive growth, climate resilience and gender equality.

About the Internship Programme – How You’ll Learn and Grow

  • Facilitate effective communications and information management support, including executive support to senior management when required.
  • Perform other duties within the project/portfolio scope as requested.

Internship Conditions – What UNDP Offers
  • Interns are not staff members and must not represent UNDP in an official capacity or commit resources.
  • Duration generally between 6 weeks and 6 months (full‑time or part‑time), based on meaningful assignments and office capacity.
  • Where not financially supported by another institution (university, government, foundation, scholarship), interns may receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses at the duty station.
  • There is no expectation of employment with UNDP after the internship.
  • Interns must have adequate medical insurance and provide a medical certificate of good health; costs are the responsibility of the intern.
  • Internship can be terminated by either party with two weeks’ notice.
Pension, Leave and Other Benefits

The internship policy does not include participation in UNDP’s staff pension scheme or standard staff annual leave; interns instead receive any stipend plus conditions defined in the UNDP Internship Policy and remain responsible for their own social security arrangements.

Specific details on holidays, working hours and any office‑level time‑off arrangements are communicated by the receiving office and supervisor, in line with local practice and UNDP rules.

Additional Information and Adjustments
  • This is an open call; inclusion in the roster does not guarantee selection or engagement.
  • Candidates on the roster may be considered for various internship assignments matching their profile and project needs.
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion are core; people from marginalized or excluded groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • UNDP has zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment and discrimination; selected candidates undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
How You’ll Learn and Grow (Intern-Specific)

Interns work with project and portfolio managers on real UNDP programmes, building skills in research, policy analysis, project operations and communications while observing UN standards and practices.

The experience builds understanding of UNDP’s focus areas in Serbia (inclusive growth, governance, climate resilience, gender equality) and of multilateral development cooperation in practice.

Selection Process

Candidates apply to the open call and, if eligible, may be included in the roster; being on the roster makes them available for matching to specific internship assignments during 2025.

Only shortlisted applicants are contacted and asked for supporting documents (university letter, transcripts, reference letter); final selected candidates sign an internship agreement and complete health and insurance requirements.

How to Apply
  1. Go to the UNDP careers portal listing for “Roster of Interns (open call)” (Job ID 27843).
  2. Create/login to your UNDP careers account and complete the online application form.
