UNEP is the United Nations’ designated entity for addressing environmental issues at global and regional levels. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus, keep the global environment under review, and bring emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.
This internship offers hands-on experience in programme and administrative support within a UN evaluation office. Interns will work closely with evaluation officers, support data management, reporting, and communications, and gain exposure to international environmental policy and evaluation processes.
- Administrative Support:
- Support IT and security focal points, manage record keeping, gate passes, and ICT-related needs.
- Support office space, equipment, and services’ needs.
- Evaluation Function Support:
- Ensure proper format and filing of evaluation reports, disseminate finalized reports, and provide logistical support for evaluation managers.
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks for the evaluation function.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Assist in developing and maintaining databases, preparing datasets, automating data extraction, and conducting data quality checks.
- Translate data results into written reports or presentations and support document generation tools.
- Communication:
- Assist in public disclosure of evaluation reports, update content for internal/external platforms, and support production of communication products.
- Liaise between evaluation managers and other staff, provide technical support for design/layout, and implement improvements to communication methods.
- Must be enrolled in or have completed undergraduate studies in Environmental Management, Development Studies, or International Policy.
- Must meet one of the following:
- Enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD programme, or have completed such a programme.
