About UN ESCAP and CSAM

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) promotes sustainable and inclusive development in the region. The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), based in Beijing, is a regional institute of ESCAP. It is mandated to enhance technical cooperation among member States through the exchange of information and promotion of research in sustainable agricultural mechanization and technology to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

About the Internship Programme – Learning Objectives

The internship is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and unpaid. Interns work under the supervision of a staff member. This internship offers the opportunity to gain exposure to the work of the United Nations in the field of sustainable agriculture and regional development.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will depend on the individual's background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Project Support: Providing support to ongoing projects and initiatives within CSAM.
  • Outreach & Communication: Assisting in social media outreach and communication activities.
  • Administrative Support: Providing general administrative support to the office.
  • Content Creation: Working on presentations and preparing materials for meetings.
  • Data Management: Consolidating and sorting data relevant to the Centre's work.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Education Status: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR
    • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
  • Experience: No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
Age Limit

No specific age limit is mentioned; eligibility is strictly based on current academic enrollment or recent graduation status.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD programme. Fields of study related to Programme Management, Agriculture, Development Studies, or Communications are relevant.
