The Transport Connectivity and Logistic Section of ESCAP's Transport Division supports member States in developing sustainable regional transport connectivity to implement SDGs. Key activities include the Trans-Asian Railway networks, improving operational efficiency through regional frameworks, and applying new technologies to cross-border transport and logistics.
This internship offers the opportunity to work either onsite in Bangkok or remotely. Interns will work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member. The intern will gain experience in qualitative analysis, report preparation, and data synthesis regarding international railway transport in the ESCAP region.
- Research & Analysis:
- Write qualitative briefs/reports on international railway transport and related issues in the ESCAP region.
- Identify and collect information from primary and secondary sources and select appropriate methodologies.
- Review, analyze, and compile collected data to prepare reports incorporating tables, graphs, and charts.
- Reporting & Synthesis:
- Support the preparation of country reports, particularly for railway transport.
- Synthesize research findings and propose possible replication of results in other countries in Asia and the Pacific.
- Prepare presentations on work findings and lessons learned for Division staff.
- Coordination & Support:
- Coordinate and liaise with Transport Division experts to identify key issues.
- Assist in the day-to-day administrative work of the Division if required.
- Education Status: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
